# Thomas Bolinger ![[bolinger_t.jpg | 150]] > Hello, my name is Thomas Bolinger, and I’m currently a senior in my last semester of undergraduate studies at ~~I~~PFW. So many experiences have defined my academic development up to this point. A few of them include industry-sponsored projects much like the ones available on this site. During the summer after my freshman year, I worked for the computer science department as a junior developer for a project sponsored by Parkview Health System, Inc. It involved visual analytical tools and telemedicine revolving around a stroke order set reporting system. Throughout the following summer and fall, I worked as a lead developer for the department on an IN-MaC Technology Adoption Program focused on data warehouse development and visualization-based business analytics. Both of these projects really enriched my career skills of project management, work ethic, leadership, and technical knowledge. I would recommend an industry-sponsored ~~I~~PFW project to any student willing to take their academic development into their own hands. > Along with the project experience, I have a wide variety of other interests. I am involved in music, playing as a drummer for church and multiple universities for musicals, choirs, pep bands, etc., and I play piano and sing for church as well. Additionally, I actively serve the computer science department as a tutor, teaching assistant, and mentor to fellow students. I want to help and give back to others as a reflection of the kindness and care that God gives me every day. > On yet another hand (yes, I run out of them sometimes), I have collaborated to publish research about the effects of depth perception in a magnified virtual environment. I have an interest in computer graphics, and the paper revolved around graphics. The research is soon to be presented in Tokyo, Japan, in February 2018 and published in the ACM Digital Library. I am proud of these accomplishments, but mostly thankful for the various faculty at ~~I~~PFW who provide these opportunities to students who wish to succeed in various avenues. > Lastly, I recently discovered a passion for teaching. I plan to return to ~~I~~PFW as a member of the computer science graduate program. In addition, I am applying for the GTA position in hopes of experiencing some teaching to confirm my interest and passion to educate and serve others. I look forward to the future. I yearn to be a force for good, and I believe the direction I am going will allow me to be just that. > \- Thomas Bolinger
